High-Protein Strawberry Overnight Oat Cheesecake Jar — 24g Protein, Under $3.50

This jar dessert exists at the exact intersection of overnight oats and cheesecake, and it is better than either on its own. A creamy cheesecake-style filling made from Greek yogurt, cream cheese, and vanilla sits over a crushed graham cracker base at the bottom of the jar, topped with a layer of fresh or frozen strawberry compote that seeps slightly into the cream layer overnight. The result is something that looks layered and deliberate and genuinely tastes like a strawberry cheesecake in a healthier, higher-protein form. At 24 grams of protein and under three dollars and fifty cents, it is the dessert that makes the end of a healthy day feel genuinely indulgent rather than virtuous.

High-Protein Strawberry Overnight Oat Cheesecake Jar

Total Time 8 hours 8 minutes
Servings: 1
Calories: 310

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp low-fat cream cheese softened
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits
  • 1/2 tsp melted butter
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 tsp honey for the strawberry layer
  • Optional: a whole fresh strawberry and a light dusting of powdered sugar to top before serving

Method

  1. Make the base: mix the crushed graham crackers with the melted butter until the crumbs are just moistened. Press into the bottom of a jar or glass to form a compact layer.
  2. Make the cheesecake filling: beat the softened cream cheese with a fork until smooth, then mix in the Greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract until fully combined and creamy.
  3. Spoon the cheesecake filling over the crumb base and smooth the top.
  4. Make the strawberry layer: if using fresh strawberries, dice them and mix with a teaspoon of honey. If using frozen, thaw and mix with honey — they will release their juices naturally.
  5. Spoon the strawberry mixture over the cheesecake layer.
  6. Seal the jar and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
  7. Before serving, top with a whole fresh strawberry and a light dusting of powdered sugar if using.
  8. Serve cold directly from the jar.

Notes

Frozen strawberries are considerably cheaper than fresh and release their juices as they thaw, creating a natural compote-like topping that actually works better than diced fresh strawberries in this jar. A large bag kept in the freezer covers this dessert and multiple smoothie recipes throughout the week at very low per-serving cost. Cream cheese blocks are consistently cheaper per ounce than cream cheese in tubs, and softening at room temperature for fifteen minutes before mixing produces a smoother result.
